These days it seems like everyone is starting an online business. Why not, right? Who wouldn’t want to work from anywhere in the world? You really only need a computer, internet, maybe some headphones, and a workstation (yes, that comfy chair at Starbucks counts). While the internet makes it possible to work on the go there are still some business needs that require you to have a central location – a physical street address.

You have the obvious choice, your home address. While you can put your home address on any of these required items, you probably want to have some privacy. If you don’t want to use your home address you do have another option, you can get a PO Box at your local post office. Be sure to call around if you have multiple locations as prices may vary.

PO boxes are great and will pretty much do the job for most of the required items for your online business however, they don’t always cut it. So if you have a PO Box and run into a place where you have to have a physical mailing address you are right back at square one – using your home address. That is until now!

When shopping around for mailboxes I suggest you search for a UPS store near you and check out their mailboxes. The UPS store mailboxes are very similar to a PO Box, same little box in the wall for mail. The only difference here is, instead of your address being a PO Box it’s an actual street address. That’s right! Now you can get a mailbox that covers you for all business needs by going to the UPS store.

Tip: If you have more than one UPS store in your area, call around and see what they are charging as prices may vary.

Running an online business means you are pretty much free to work from anywhere in the world. You just need a place you can pop into, log online, and get to work.

So, when you are starting or running an online business you will need a physical mailing address, but you don’t have to use your home address. As long as you have a UPS Store nearby you should be all set with walking in and setting up a mailbox with an actual street address. Be sure to shop around to see if you can save any money and unless you plan on having large packages mailed, a small box is fine.
