Come up with a topic that is relevant to your target market. You should be able to easily speak on this topic for about 30 minutes
Take a look at the calendar and pick a day and time that works best for you and your audience. Give yourself about two weeks out.
Creating Your Outline
Once you have your day and time set up, it’s time to create your outline. Use Google Docs, any word processing program, or even a pen and paper to create your outline. Remember, when outlining you want to keep it short sweet and to the point. There’s no need to get crazy here. You also need to decide how you’re going to deliver this content and what that looks like. For example, I used Google slides to deliver my presentation which worked out perfectly (see mine by viewing “Potential customers always ask…”)
With Google slides you can create a quick and easy slideshow. Use the presenter notes (located underneath each slide) to provide yourself a quick outline of what you can say. This should consist of key bullet points that will help trigger what you should say. Be sure to keep your graphics simple and relevant. Also do not add too much content to a slide. Slides are not meant to be a blog post. You want to keep your audience focused on what you’re presenting instead of getting held up with reading what’s on the screen and getting lost in the words.
When creating your outline, make sure you make time to focus on your audience. Ask them a few questions upfront as well as remind them why they’re here viewing your webinar. Give them a little background of who you are and what your story is. This all helps paint a picture. At the end of your presentation be sure to include where people can find you if they want more – your website.
After you’ve created your outline and have determined exactly how you’re going to present it to your audience, make sure that you have someone else take a look and edit it.
Meanwhile you can create a simple graphic in Canva that teases the webinar and leaves your audience wondering. You will push this graphic out to social media to promote your webinar. Give yourself about two weeks before delivering the actual webinar.
Choosing a Platform
Now that you have your outline, your date and time, and your graphic ready to go it’s time to get you set up on the best webinar platform around, Expertise (affiliate link). Preparing for the webinar
Now it’s time to actually put together all of the pieces and prepare for your webinar. Use the tools on Expertise and run through a practice run in the private rehearsal area. Once you’ve done that a couple times be sure to listen to the recordings to make note of what you liked and didn’t like.
Be sure to ask yourself as you’re watching “Why do I care?” This is important because it is the first question your customers are going to be asking themselves when they see your content.
When the day finally comes for you to go live, make sure to:
– Test everything out one more time in the private rehearsal area of Expertise at least 30 minutes before
– Turn off any distractions like the phone or you inbox. The littlest notification can distract you making it harder to present
– DO NOT focus on how many people are attending live. Most will likely catch the replay and that’s OK
– Ask a few questions during the webinar but don’t expect answers. Again, most people will catch the replay which means you don’t want to sit there and ask a question and wait for someone to answer. Just ask it to keep people engaged and keep it moving
– Explain what’s going to happen in the webinar. Is there going to be a hard sale at the end? Will there be discounts possibly towards the end? Remember you want to be open and honest with your audience
– Keep an eye on time and move through your presentation. Try not to go too fast as you want to make sure you clearly explain everything. By keeping an eye on time, you will stay focused on the key points of your presentation
– Once your webinar is complete, be sure to breathe and congratulate yourself (just make sure to hit stop broadcasting first!)
Even though your webinar is over, you can still share your landing page link to the webinar sign-up page out on social media so others can sign up to watch the replay.
Remember, this is a quick 30-minute session where you are just having fun talking about something you’re knowledgeable about and that your audience needs to know. Try not to give more than three main points regarding your subject.
