Research & Organize
Research is fundamental to any process. How you organize the information you collect from efficient, effective research will determine your next steps and allow you to move forward (or stop progress in its tracks). Organizing and implementing effective systems is key no matter what you hope to achieve.
Teaching is the final step of what I can offer you. Once I understand you and your needs, research them and organize systems that will allow you to implement successful strategies, I can teach you how to do the same thing moving forward. The coolest part? Teaching is just applying what you’ve learned, so once you learn what you need, you’re limitless.
My clients are both men and women. Some are working a 9 to 5 job and in search of something more, while some are already small business owners looking to get organized, get up to speed with their technology, and attack their opportunities. What is your office hours?
Business hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Pacific Time. Ed Troxell Creative is CLOSED on Wednesdays.
Do you have a DIY course on building a website?
Yes! If you would like to build your own website on WordPress– I highly encourage you to do this for the experience and so you can see you can do it when given the right tools – then check my WordPress made Stupid Easy® course. You can get a website set up in about an hour.
What is your turn around time?
When you reach out you can expect a reply within 24-hours during normal business hours. From there it will all depend on what we discuss and the project at hand.
I'm not local, can we still work together?
Absolutely! In fact, most of my clients are on the East Coast. What does this look like? Communication takes place primarily through email, Google Drive and Zoom video conferencing which is a breeze for both of us to use.
Why is email the best way to contact you?
Email allows us both to have something we can refer back to as needed and it keeps all the communication is one place. In the process, I help teach you how to compose better emails starting with the subject line which should always match what is in the body of the email. By doing this you save both time and money later 😉
Do you accept PayPal?
You bet! I also accept most major credit cards and good old cash!
Why do you charge upfront for most services?
Because while Mastercard is accepted everywhere, hugs are not a form of payment – at least when it comes to paying bills. Truth is, I simply can not take back the knowledge I give you which is why I charge upfront for most of my services. I realize many fear paying upfront for services given they have been burned in the past. I get it. Been there, done that. That’s why if you feel this way let’s talk about it. WordPress.com vs WordPress.org
Building a website can be pretty complicated. I’m all about making technology Stupid Easy® That being said, here’s a few tips and a quick run down on getting started with a website.
WordPress.org vs WordPress.com
Basically, think of it as owning your own home (WordPress.org) vs renting (WordPress.com). The WordPress.org route means you are free to build what you like and add whatever you like (plugins – think of them like apps on your smartphone). WordPress.com however, is more restrictive and doesn’t allow for plugins. It will cost a bit more too because if something happens to your site you reach out to them vs WordPress.org it’s on you and your tech resources.
WordPress.org is the best route in most cases as it allows your site to grow as your business grows. It’s just intimidating to many, especially when starting out, as it can do as little or as much as you want. Think of it like your smartphone. It can do just the basics like make phone calls or it can be your portable computer.
So what should you expect to pay for a new website that is done through WordPress.org?
– Domain name ($5-20 average price going for $12.99) Here’s my referral link to Name.com
– Web hosting (starting at $4 a month so $48/yr) Here’s my recommendation again SiteGround
– WordPress theme free (not recommended) or higher. The one I use is Divi which is about $69/yr
– DIY route = your time which you can check out my WordPress made Stupid Easy® course
– Designer route = some will start around $500-$800 (really low)+
